Please review our policies before you sign up for a program or reserve a park. That way you'll know how Kzoo Parks handles things like late registration, cancellations, and refunds. If you have questions about any of these policies, you can call 311 for help or email kzooparks@kalamazoocity.org.
A late fee will apply for any registration completed within three business days of the first day of a program. The late fee is $10 for all programs per person or participant.
If a participant cancels their registration before a program begins, Kzoo Parks will issue a refund of the registration cost less a $10 processing fee (per program/per participant). If an activity is canceled by Kzoo Parks, all participants will receive a full refund. NO refunds will be issued after a program has started.
We never want to cancel a program, but Kzoo Parks reserves the right to cancel activities if there aren't enough participants registered. If an activity is canceled by the department, participants will receive full refunds.
Kzoo Parks encourages and promotes inclusive recreation. All of our programs are open to anyone who wishes to participate, we are happy to accomodate special needs when necessary. If you or your child have any special needs, please let us know by calling 311 or emailing kzooparks@kalamazoocity.org after you register. Please let us know two weeks before the program begins if you can.
We design our programs for specific age groups to make sure they are at the right level and safe for participants. We usually don't verify ages, but Kzoo Parks reserves the right to request proof of participant age by show of birth certificate.

If you are seeking financial assistance, please wait to register until your application has been processed. Refunds will not be granted after registration because of approved scholarships.
Members of our team or City of Kalamazoo staff may take photos during Kzoo Parks programs, in city parks, or at special events. These photos may be used for sharing Kzoo Parks programs and encouraging participation in our community.
Park reservations that are canceled at least 14 business days prior to the reservation will be refunded, less a $25 processing fee.
No refunds will be issued within 14 days of a reservation or for rain or inclement weather.
There is a $50 refundable deposit for park rentals to ensure that reserved areas are cleaned up and left in their original condition. All park facilities and grounds should be left undamaged.
After your event is over, be sure to scan the QR code in the pavilion/rental area and complete the checkout form. This will confirm that everything has been cleaned up and will ask you to upload photos of the pavilion condition when you left. After receiving your form our parks staff will visit the pavilion to check the condition. If everything is in order, our staff will get started on refunding your deposit.
Failure to complete the checkout form before the end of the day on your rental day or not leaving the pavilion in original condition may forfeit the deposit. The permit holder will be billed for damages or losses exceeding the initial deposit amount.
A $20 Short Notice Fee will apply to all park reservations made less than 14 days in advance.
Large games (like bouncy inflatables) require a certificate of insurance ($1 million liability with the City of Kalamazoo named as additionally insured). The certificate of insurance must be provided at least one week before the event or reservation to ensure approval by the City's risk manager.
