While thawing out on summer break he worked at Ottawa County Parks and Recreation Department. During his tenure at Ottawa County Parks and Recreation Cory worked on several projects such as, trail blazing new park trails and waging war on invasive weeds throughout the county park system. Soon after graduating from Northern he took a position with the City of Kalamazoo Parks, performing several improvement projects and park maintenance duties throughout the beautiful city of Kalamazoo. He also helps support multiple volunteer groups that graciously donate their passion and time to the parks. When he’s not busy in the parks, he spends the majority of his free time mentoring and coaching a local Kalamazoo FIRST robotics team.
Sports Facilities Coordinator
Jim Green joined the Parks and Recreation Department in May of 2002. If anyone knows and loves Kalamazoo, its Jim! He was born and raised here and spent all, but four years of his life here. The four years he was not in Kalamazoo Jim traveled the world performing one of the highest duties one can perform and served his country. He’s been to the United Kingdom, Paris France, Spain, Amsterdam and sunny California! Jim is a sports fanatic which is fitting as he serves at the departments Sports Facilities Coordinator. He claims to love all sports with the exception of cricket and lawn bowling (which he claims is a result of his time spent in England). Jim is all about hard work and he doesn’t mess around when it needs to get done…especially when the occasional fish is found in the flooded outfield of Homer Stryker Field! When he’s not managing and maintaining the athletic fields at Mayor’s Riverfront Park and Versluis Dickinson Softball Complex he enjoys watching healthy grass grow, occasionally being right, and striking out in the tenth frame for the win!

Her favorite part of the job is working alongside volunteers, coworkers, and groups, such as Kalamazoo In Bloom, Rotary Club and Eaton corporation to help beautify the community. When she’s not busy with her hands in the dirt, Elizabeth enjoys long walks on the beach and hiking with her dog Ralph.
